Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply to your access and use of Conta’s websites and services, including contabook.co, app.contabook.co, and getconta.app (the “Services”). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

Conta provides accounting and bookkeeping tools and related services for freelancers and small businesses, including data capture, reporting and human support as described on our website. Features may change, without removing expressly agreed included services or service commitments.

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Services. If you use the Services on behalf of a company or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

The current monthly offer is €69.99 excluding VAT, billed monthly. Existing agreed prices and saved offers remain in effect; publishing this information does not reprice an existing subscription.

The plan includes bookkeeping, VAT returns, ICP declarations, OSS returns, annual accounts and Dutch income-tax returns, including Box 3, reporting foreign income and assets on Dutch returns, and partner returns. Tax filings in other countries are outside the plan. The digital platform, personal quarterly reports and advice for your business are included.

Fees start on the first day of the calendar quarter in which you join. Our team confirms the service quarter and first payment with you. Earlier bookkeeping for that same calendar year is included without setup or additional catch-up fees.

For example, if you join in November, the initial October–November service fee is €139.98 excluding VAT, followed by €69.99 for December. October–December therefore costs €209.97 excluding VAT in total. If you join in December, all three elapsed months are included in the initial €209.97 fee. January–September bookkeeping is included in either example.

Annual tax filing is subject to the year-end eligibility rule below. The agreed service period and actual first payment are confirmed before payment.

You can cancel at any time with 30 days’ notice. Contact the Conta team so we can confirm your effective service end date. Stopping a recurring payment in the app does not by itself change the agreed service notice period; our team manages the remaining service arrangements.

If the 30-day notice ends partway through a month, the full final monthly fee is payable. The unused part of that month is not prorated or refunded, except where an express service guarantee or mandatory legal right requires otherwise.

Your full-year Dutch income-tax return is included if your subscription remains active through 31 December of that tax year, even if you leave before the return is prepared and filed. Eligibility uses the effective service end date after notice, rather than the date notice was given. Paying a full December fee does not replace the requirement for service to remain active through 31 December.

You retain ownership of the data you upload or generate in the Services. You grant us a license to host, process and display Customer Data solely to provide and improve the Services, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of Customer Data.

You agree not to:

Use the Services for unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful activities.

Interfere with or disrupt the security or integrity of the Services.

Reverse engineer, copy, or resell the Services without permission.

Upload malware or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems.

You can ask your accountant as many questions as you need about your business and the services included in your plan. There is no numerical question limit or per-question charge. Follow-up questions and requests for clarification are welcome.

We ask customers to use support in good faith and communicate respectfully. Spam, abusive conduct and deliberate disruption fall outside fair use. Frequent genuine questions or needing additional explanation are not, by themselves, misuse.

If a concern arises, we explain it and discuss a reasonable support workflow, such as grouping related questions or arranging a conversation. Fair use does not introduce surprise fees or remove services already included in your plan.

Automated tools have technical safeguards to protect availability and prevent abuse. If a safeguard affects legitimate work, contact us for review. Unlimited questions to your accountant do not mean unlimited automated processing capacity. Replies follow our published business hours and service commitments.

The Services may integrate with third-party services, such as payment processors, communications providers or analytics providers. Their terms apply to your use of those services. The general exclusion of responsibility for third-party actions does not remove our express service commitments or mandatory legal obligations.

Conta uses AI and automated tools to read accounting documents, extract and categorise information, and help organise transaction records. Depending on the feature, this can involve complete invoice PDFs or images, extracted text, company information and transaction descriptions or references.

Customers can also use the in-app AI assistant. Its responses are generated automatically and may be shown without prior human review. The assistant can use selected document or transaction context and available tools to retrieve information or help prepare drafts, such as draft invoices. AI-generated information can be incomplete or incorrect.

Professional advice and tax filings are handled by the Conta team. An AI answer is not confirmation that an accountant has reviewed it or that a tax return has been filed. Contact Piyush or Meiling for professional advice, clarification or correction.

Using AI does not remove our agreed human-review steps, service commitments or applicable remedies. Information about providers, data use and retention is explained in our Privacy Policy.

The Service policy forms part of these terms and sets out business-hour commitments, agreed deadlines, one-off refunds and recurring service credits. These express commitments take precedence over general disclaimers, third-party exclusions and non-refund wording for the affected work. Mandatory legal rights remain unaffected.

The Services, including software, designs, and content, are owned by Conta or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Services as permitted by these Terms.

Technical tools are provided as available; we do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. General website information and automated answers are not professional or legal advice. This does not limit the professional advice, filings, human-review steps or service commitments we expressly agree to provide. You remain responsible for supplying accurate information and required approvals.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Conta will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill. Our total liability arising out of or related to the Services will not exceed the amounts you paid us for the Services in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. This does not limit our express service guarantees and remedies or rights and liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

You agree to indemnify and hold Conta harmless from claims, damages, and expenses arising from your use of the Services, your Customer Data, or your violation of these Terms. This applies only to the extent permitted by law and does not exclude our express service obligations.

You may stop using the Services at any time. Ending paid service is subject to the notice period and final billing rules set out above. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if required by law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of the Netherlands.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the “Effective date” above when we make changes. Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
